Work in Progress
It all started as homework: a few scribbles between bus shifts, jotting down the odd character or overheard line. Nearly two years later, those notes have grown into my love letter to Portsmouth, just in time for the city’s centenary celebrations.
Fare to Remember is an ongoing artist book and photography project capturing the humour, resilience, and quiet absurdity of everyday life as seen from the driver’s seat of a Portsmouth bus. Through photographs, text fragments, and stories gathered on route, the project documents the city’s constant movement. The book reflects on change and the constant movement that shapes how we inhabit a city. As a heritage photographer, I am particularly interested in the city’s landmarks, its commuters and its unspoken rituals of routine.
